maa laxmi
It was a scorching noon in march.I reached andheri station(suburb of Mumbai) at 12.30pm.and took a autorickshaw for going towards versova.I told autorickshawwala in Hindi “bhaisab juhu gallise lena.traffic kam milega”.he immediately took a left towards juhu galli.
I was in a little bit of hurry, as I had to reach the studio on time. However, it usually happens that when it’s late already, you face many hurdles to reach the destination as the same auto stopped at a signal. Mumbai’s traffic signals are very much famous for hawkers and beggars. On one hand, we experience revolution in the field of technology, our corporate honchos make every possible effort to transform our country into a developed and the rich nation and on the other hand, I could experience the reflection of abject poverty as I could see many beggars begging around at the traffic signal. As of today, it is virtually impossible to eradicate poverty because it is not a necessity but over the years, it has become a tendency of certain section of society as it gives them easy money. Madhur bhandarkars film traffic signal is a best showcase of roadside life of Mumbai.
Superstition and emotional blackmailing is the successful formula for beggars and hawkers on traffic signal.
I just put my earphone and was busy listening music. One poor teenager boy came near my auto and was insistent that I should purchase some lottery tickets .I denied Because I am totally against the concept of lottery money. After my negligence, boy was going towards next autorikshaw, and suddenly one lottery tickets fell on my lap. It was 50 lacks lottery ticket; I called that boy back and returned him his ticket. There was exciting expressions on his face. He told me that madam you are fortunate. Goddess laxmi wants to enter your house. You denied to purchase the ticket, but she herself sat on your lap (goddess laxmis photo was printed on it). Suddenly signal turned green and auto started and I got lost in my own thoughts because that time I was jobless. When I reached studio my editor friend gave me great news that I got a new project for copywriting.
& immediately I remembered that boys word that ma laxmi wanted to enter your life. I bowed down and thanked goddess laxmi, and asked for pardon as I was rude to the lottery guy. I was ecstatic as I started thinking about my destiny and my luck.
I told the whole story to my editor friend and he was shocked not because of goddess laxmi but he told me that some time the hawkers are pocket snatcher. It did struck me and out of anxiety I checked my bag and found out that there was a big cut on my leather bag. I got the gospel that street hawker stole my laxmi from my bag. He snatched my wallet. Penitence was useless. Thank god that I kept some money aside in my Jeans pocket. It was helpful to me that times as I was able manage to pay traveling expense.
Desire, affection, beliefs, hopes are all part of human nature but the magnitude and the influence of these factors is to be restricted to a certain limit, percentage of such things is important. Hope for good luck is obvious behavior.
In the zest of achieving our goals we seldom have the alertness’ and presence of mind to take care of every minute thing which we experience during the journey to achieving goals.
